Healthy Berry Smoothie Recipe


Quick, easy and healthy berry smoothie recipe

I have a bit of a vendetta against Boost Juice. The marketing is genius and the product is tasty, but I just can't bring myself to buy a smoothie or juice at that price... especially when I can make one at home that puts Strawberry Squeezes and Mango Magics to shame. No fancy alliterative names, I simply call it:

THE ULTIMATE BERRY SMOOTHIE.


It's healthy, takes a couple of minutes to make and it's bloody tasty. This recipe is the perfect liquid dessert to combat chocolate cravings, or, if you include all of the 'optional' ingredients below, it can act as a breakfast substitute full of superfood goodness. Alternatively, ignore all of that hubbub about health and add a couple of scoops of ice cream and some top quality chocolate powder for a refreshing dessert. This is all it takes:

Ingredients
1 cup frozen berries (I used raspberries and blueberries) 
3 heaped tablespoons greek yoghurt (or regular)
1 tablespoon agave nectar (or honey)
1/4 cup milk of your choice
1 small handful of ice
1 sliced banana
1 egg

Optional Ingredients
1 serve protein powder (I used Horelys Ice vanilla whey powder)
2 heaped teaspoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon psyllium husk
1 tablespoon oats

For a naughtier version, add full fat vanilla ice cream and high grade cocoa or drinking chocolate.


The best part about this recipe is the method: chuck everything in a blender in no particular order and spin that shit until smooth.

Simple, nutritious and delicious... unless you add that ice cream!
